Study sees ample e-tailing opportunities in China

THE popularity of fashion and female interest Internet sites in China poses great opportunities for companies in the country, reported the latest study by research firm The Nielsen Company’s
online arm.

Based on Nielsen Online’s survey, conducted from April-May 2008, Chinese Internet users who visit lifestyle, fashion and female-related sites have high spending power. The report reveals that over half of those who visit such sites are holders of bachelor’s degrees or higher, while 60% work for
private firms and foreign companies, or are freelancers or university students with an average annual income of RMB63,400 (US$9,213.51).

Nielsen Online placed the most frequent visitors between the ages of 20 and 30. The survey monitored seven million unique browsers and more than 12.3 million sessions weekly.
