The current phenomena of the mobile Web and social-networking media have
been breathtaking. First, they have taken the world by storm and transformed
the global online population landscape. Second, they have expanded the
dimension of the Internet and unleashed a novel set of very compelling media
opportunities to reach out to consumers. The mobile Web and the social
networks have effectively caused a new paradigm in consumer-marketing
communications. And their scale and scope are totally awesome. They will
have dramatic impact on Asian retailers’ marketing strategies. Those who miss
them might well end up missing the boat entirely going forward.
