Scarcely 12 months into what had been widely dubbed the mother of all
economic crises, recovery has surprisingly appeared to have started. And,
now, the crisis is said to have bottomed out and to be recovering. But the
rebound seems to be happening so much sooner and stronger than the most
optimistic expert prognosis. The experts also believe that Asian economies
have been the impetus for the rebound and they are poised to lead the
recovery. What had driven the fast recovery? Is it real and sustainable? What
are the downsides? These are key questions facing Asian retailers as they
prepare for the upcoming, all-important year-end holiday shopping season …
