APEC Summit: Looking beyond economic recovery; charting a new growth paradigm ... Part 1: What’s in store for Asian consumer markets
Story 1 - One Viewpoint
APEC, which held its 17th summit in Singapore last month under the theme
Sustaining Growth, Connecting the Region, marked the first time that the
21-member economies’ leaders were meeting since the world economy
plunged into its deepest crisis in recent history. At the summit’s conclusion, the
APEC leaders’ proclamation was guardedly cautious and optimistic. It pointed
out that the region was emerging into a vastly changed post-crisis landscape
and that a new growth paradigm with a fresh model of economic integration
was needed. What are the key elements contained in the proclamation? And
how would they impact the Asian economies and their consumer market?
